Who we are:

  • Students who share a passion for range land and its management

What we do:

  • We study rangeland, hydrology, soil, plants, wildlife, GIS, and many other subjects to become smart, skilled, and knowledgeable stewards of the land. We meet two times a month, usually in the Range Resource room, 474 Ag Hall. We also go on field trips as a club throughout the school year and participate in Ferguson homecoming events. We also attend the annual meeting of the Society for Range Management and participate in range student competitions (for more info about SRM: https://rangelands.org/committees/student-activities-committee-sac/)

Officer Job Decriptions

Outreach/Event Coordinator

  1. Liaison to the NREM Department, OKSRM, and any other professional groups.
  2. Keep contacts with as many professionals as possible for future Range Club activities and associations.
  3. Reserve meeting room at gurooms@okstate.edu or with NREM secretary if not in AGH 474.
  4. Plans events such as field days, workshops, and field trips.
  5. Manage all club social media accounts.
  6. Post relevant and appropriate posts on club social media platforms.
  7. Take photos of club events and upload them to club social media platforms and/or Campus Link page.
  8. Coordinate with Treasurer to aid in planning for National SRM Meeting.
  9. Aid in writing articles for OKSRM Newsletter.

Secretary

  1. Attend bimonthly Ferguson Student Council meetings and be the liaison between the Student Council and the club.
  2. 1 of the 2 Full Student Council Representatives.
  3. Take important club meeting notes.
  4. Upload meeting dates 
  5. Adds/Removes memberships on Campus Link club page.
  6. Main editor and organizer in the writing and publication of the biannual OKSRM Newsletter.

Treasurer

  1. Record current club finances and give report at each club meeting.
  2. Count out cash box amount before every club meeting for update.
  3. Responsible for all university account deposits and withdrawals.
  4. Take orders for club apparel.
  5. Coordinate with Outreach & Event Coordinator to aid in planning for National SRM Meeting.
  6. Estimate and calculate expenses and costs for the National SRM Meeting.
  7. Receive financial reports from Megan Janus (AGH 157)- not NREM Dept.
  8. Fill out, submit, & present for club-funding applications such as AFAP & CASNR Student Council Partnership.
  9. Update Campus Life yellow card at the beginning of each fall semester with President.

Vice President

  1. Help the President with any activities, objectives, and delegations.
  2. Be present with the President at any events the club must be present for.
  3. Order and deliver food items within budget for club meetings.
  4. Aid in writing and publication of OKSRM Newsletter.
  5. Keep informed about upcoming Homecoming themes, competitions, and submittal/completion deadlines.
  6. Recruit people to aid in Ferguson Window Painting development/cleanup as well as any other Homecoming Competitions.
  7. Gather/purchase materials for Homecoming activities/competitions within club budget.
  8. 1 of the 2 Full Student Council Meeting Representatives
  9. Clean out NREM Computer Lab Fridge on designated months.

President

  1. Manage, coordinate, and cooperate with the rest of the officer team.
  2. Type and send out club emails.
  3. Manage Campus Link account and add/delete memberships.
  4. Be the liaison between the club and club advisors.
  5. Write up club meeting agendas and lead club meetings.
  6. Coordinate with the other officers by distributing info about the National SRM Meeting for planning.
  7. Provide schedule of events and other important info about National SRM Meeting.
  8. Organize National SRM competition groups and set up practice/study sessions (Plant ID & URME).
  9. Register National SRM competition groups for competition events (in collaboration with club advisors).
  10. Aid in writing and publication of OKSRM Newsletter.
  11. Update Campus Life yellow card at the beginning of each fall semester with Treasurer.
